Governor Abbott Appoints Hansen And Mizani To Automobile Burglary And Theft Prevention Authority

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Tommy Hansen of Hitchcock and Armin Mizani of Keller to the Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority for terms set to expire February 1, 2021. The authority assesses the scope of motor vehicle theft in Texas and supports a statewide law enforcement network through grants, auto theft reduction initiatives, education and public awareness.

Tommy Hansen is a deputy sheriff and Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigation Division of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, and has been assigned to assist the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, with a focus on cold case homicides and fugitives. Additionally, he has served as the project director of the Galveston County Auto Crimes Task Force since 1993. He is a member and past president of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators and the Texas Association of Vehicle Theft Investigators, member and current vice president of Beat The Heat, Inc., an international youth outreach program with a focus on illegal street racing. He is also a member of the Texas Association of Private Investigators, coordinator for the Galveston County Citizen Sheriff’s Academy and a volunteer for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Galveston County and Ronald McDonald House of Galveston.

Armin Mizani is the managing attorney for the Mizani Law Firm located in Dallas. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Tarrant County Bar Association and the Texas Young Lawyers Association. Additionally, he is a City Councilman for the City of Keller, where he sits on the city's Crime Control and Prevention Committee and the Municipal Court Committee. Mizani received a Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University and a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law.
