Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Governing Board Of The Texas School For The Blind And Visually Imp

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Tobie Wortham and has reappointed Mary Alexander and Joseph Muñiz to the Governing Board of the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) for terms set to expire January 31, 2021.

Tobie Wortham of Rockwall is an educational diagnostician with Rockwall Independent School District. Wortham received a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from The University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Mary Keller Alexander of Valley View is the National Program Director at Learning Ally. She is a member of the National Association of Parents of Children with Visual Impairments, National Organization of Parents of Blind Children, Texas Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired, and the Texas Association of Parents of the Visually Impaired. She also currently serves as vice president of the TSBVI Governing Board. Alexander received a Bachelor of Science in Government from Texas Woman’s University.

Joseph Muñiz of Harlingen is a librarian and the assistant library director for the City of Harlingen. He currently serves as president of the TSBVI Governing Board and is a member of the Disability Rights of Texas Executive Committee. He is a past member of the Texas Commission for the Blind and past vice presiding officer of the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services Council. Muniz received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Texas A&M University.
