Governor Abbott Appoints Cowen To Texas Historical Records Advisory Board

Governor Greg Abbott today appointed Malinda L. Cowen of Beeville to Texas Historical Records Advisory Board for a term to expire on February 1, 2018. The Texas Historical Records Advisory Board is responsible for safeguarding significant resources and providing information services that inspire and support research, education and reading to enhance the capacity for achievement of current and future generations.

Malinda L. Cowen is the Director of Special Education at St. Mary’s Academy Charter School. Previously, she served as the Special Education Counselor at Beeville Independent School District. Cowen began her career as a teacher for Amarillo Independent School District. Currently, she is a member of the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education and Texas Statewide Network of Assessment Professionals. Cowen has served in leadership positions as the president of the Bee County Library Board, chairman of the South Texas Library System Advisory Council, president of the Soroptimist Club and president of the Rosetta Club. Cowen earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Texas Tech University. She received her Master of Science degree in Counseling from Corpus Christi State University, now known as Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.
