Governor Abbott Appoints Hicks As Taylor County Criminal District Attorney

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed James Hicks of Abilene as the Taylor County Criminal District Attorney for a term set to expire at the next general election in November 2016.

James Hicks is an assistant district attorney in the Taylor County District Attorney’s Office and is chief prosecutor of the 42nd Judicial District Court in Taylor County. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and State Bar of New Mexico and member and past director of the Abilene Bar Association. He is admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Additionally, he is director of the Abilene Area Regional Victim Crisis Center and is a volunteer for the West Texas Fair and Rodeo Association and the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Hicks received a Bachelor of Science from Midwestern State University and a Juris Doctor from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
