Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Humanities Texas
Governor Greg Abbott today appointed Mary Louise Albritton of Fort Worth, Jenni Hord of Midland and Amy Warren of Dallas to Humanities Texas for terms to expire on December 31, 2016. As the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, they conduct and support public programs in history, literature, philosophy, and the other humanities disciplines. These programs strengthen Texas communities by cultivating the knowledge and judgment that representative democracy demands of its citizens. Humanities Texas is one of fifty-six nonprofit state and jurisdictional humanities councils in the United States. They are a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1973 and are supported by appropriations from the U.S. Congress and the state of Texas and by gifts and grants from foundations, corporations, and individuals.
Mary Louise Albritton is a community volunteer and philanthropist. She is a member of the National Rifle Association and the Junior League of Fort Worth. Albritton is a supporter of The Gatehouse which is a non-profit organization with a mission to offer women a practical hand up with life’s challenges. She is also an active supporter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Alzheimer’s Association. Albritton earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Southern Methodist University.
Jenni Hord is co-manager of Vanderpool Management which is a commercial and residential property development and leasing firm. She is also president of the Hord Foundation which supports non-profit organizations. Hord is currently serving in leadership positions as the co-president of the Lone Star Region Young Life Board of Directors, board member of the Midland Memorial Hospital Forum, board member of the Midland Polo School, and board member of Project Graduation. Hord earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing and business management from Baylor University.
Amy Warren is a devoted philanthropist. She was among the first employees of Energy Transfer Company where she worked as an executive assistant for over twelve years. Prior to that, Warren worked as a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines for over a decade. She currently serves on the board of the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center. Warren co-founded Cherokee Crossroads which is an organization whose proceeds are donated to support various children’s charities and public service organizations across Texas. She has been involved with Amica Rockwall which is a non-profit organization that raises funds for scholarships and other local needs. She is also been involved and supportive of the Ronald McDonald House and the Roatan Hospital. Warren studied business management at Texas Tech University.
