Governor Abbott Appoints Saunders And Hutchison To Governing Board Of The Texas School For The Deaf

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed David Saunders of Waxahachie for a term to expire January 31, 2019 and Ryan Hutchison of Austin for a term to expire January 31, 2021 to the Governing Board of the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD). The board oversees the provision of all TSD services, and is responsible for budget preparation, policy adoption and the appointment of the superintendent.

David Saunders is president of Workforce QA, a background provider and drug testing company for employers, primarily made up of the trucking industry. He has spent over thirty years in the transportation industry working his way from driver to CEO of his company, Compliance Safety Systems which he later merged with Workforce QA. He is a member of the Texas Trucking Association Board of Directors and member of the American Trucking Association where he co-chaired the Safe Stat Task Force. Additionally, he is a member of the Traffic Enforcement Committee of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance.  Saunders is a graduate of Temple High School.

Ryan Hutchison is vice president of National Programs for Communication Service for the Deaf, a national non-profit that provides programs and services to the deaf, deaf-blind and hard of hearing populations across the country. Previously, he served as executive director of the Hispanic Alliance for the Performing Arts. He is a member of the Congressional Page Association and a former member of the Texas School for the Deaf Foundation. Hutchison is a graduate of Bishop Blanchet High School in Seattle, Washington.
