Governor Abbott Appoints Smith To Texas Crime Stoppers Council

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott has appointed J.B. Smith of Lufkin to the Texas Crime Stoppers Council for a term set to expire on September 1, 2017. The Texas Crime Stoppers Council advises the Governor on crime stoppers programs in Texas and certifies local crime stopper programs in order for them to receive payments of rewards or payments of probation fees establishes by the Code of Criminal Procedure.

J.B. Smith is the executive director for Crime Stoppers of Lufkin, a peace officer with the City of Lufkin Police Department, and an adjunct instructor at Angelina College. He is a member of the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas and the Lufkin Police Association. Smith received his Texas Certified Public Manger certification from Stephen F. Austin State University and his Law Enforcement Technology certification from Rio Salado College.
