Governor Abbott Appoints Two To Southwestern States Water Commission
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Senator Charles Perry and State Representative Lyle Larson to the Southwestern States Water Commission for terms set to expire on February 1, 2019 and February 1, 2017, respectively. The Commission will work with neighboring states to identify and develop sources and methods of augmenting water supplies on a regional basis after existing water supplies are fully committed. This appointment will be effective September 1, 2015.
Senator Charles Perry of Lubbock is a practicing CPA and was first elected to the Texas Senate in 2014 after serving two terms in the Texas House of Representatives. Senator Perry currently chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Water and Rural Affairs. He also serves on the Senate Committees on Criminal Justice, Health and Human Services, Higher Education, and the Select Committee on Transportation Planning. In addition to his work in the Legislature, Senator Perry has served his community as president of the Lubbock Boys and Girls Club, American Business Clubs, Community Partners, on the board of the National Council on Family Violence, and the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline. Senator Perry received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University.
Representative Lyle Larson of San Antonio is a small business owner. Representative Larson was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2010. He serves on the House Committees on Natural Resources, Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Calendars, and the General Investigation and Ethics. He has served his community as chairman of the San Antonio Military Transformation Task Force, the San Antonio – Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Alamo Area Council of Governments and the Greater San Antonio Crime Commission. Representative Larson received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
