Governor Greg Abbott has appointed 10 student regents to their respective universities for terms expiring on May 31, 2016. Governor Abbott also appointed a student representative to serve on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Midwestern State University
Megan Piehler of Plano is pursuing a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Midwestern State University.

Stephen F. Austin University
Ryan Brown-Moreno of Plano is pursuing a bachelor's degree in general business from Stephen F. Austin University.

Texas A&M University System
Alvaro “Gabe” Pereira of College Station is pursuing a bachelor's degree in political science from Texas A&M University at College Station.

Texas Southern University
Dominique Calhoun of Houston is pursuing a law degree from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Midwestern State University, and a Master of Business Administration from Midwestern State University.

Spencer Copeland of San Antonio is pursuing a master’s degree in homeland security from Sam Houston State University. He received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University.

Victoria Messer of Canyon is pursuing a law degree from the Texas Tech University School of Law. She received a bachelor's degree in political science from Texas Tech University.
