Governor Abbott, Comptroller Hegar Issue Guidance To State Agencies On Employee Leave
Governor Greg Abbott and Comptroller Glenn Hegar today issued guidance to all state agencies subject to the direction of the governor regarding the use of employee leave. Pursuant to the Governor’s directive, agencies are instructed to refrain from using emergency leave as severance or settlement payments to departing state employees. The Office of Comptroller of Public Accounts will verify adherence to the new policy.
The Governor's directive will remain in place until the issue is addressed in the upcoming legislative session and new legislation is enacted regarding the use of employee leave.
