Governor Abbott Re-Designates Leisure And Hogsett To Land And Water Conservation Fund
Governor Greg Abbott today announced the re-designation of Brent Leisure as State Liaison Officer and Tim Hogsett as Alternate State Liaison Officer to the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) for a term to expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The LWCF program provides matching grants to states and local governments for the acquisition and development of public outdoor recreation areas and facilities in effort to create and maintain high quality recreation areas and facilities across the nation.
Brent Leisure is the Director of the Texas State Parks Division of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department responsible for the operation of all 95 state parks, natural areas and historic sites in the Texas State Park system. Leisure has also served as Regional Director of Texas State Parks since 2003, overseeing 16 state parks and historic sites in South Central Texas. He is a member of the National Association of State Park Directors, a member on the Board of Regents of the National Association of State Park Directors Leadership School, Fellow of the National Conservation Leadership Institute, member of the National Association of State Outdoor Recreation Liaison Officers and Texas Recreation and Parks Society. Leisure graduated from Texas Tech University in 1984 and received a BS in Wildlife Management.
Tim Hogsett is the current Director of the Recreation Grants Program at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. He has previously served as the Rural Government Planner at the South Plains Association of Governments in Lubbock and the Recreation Grants Administrator at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Hogsett is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional with the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS), member and past President of the Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation (TPRF) Board of Directors, former member of the Southwest Region Advisory Council Board of Directors within the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), President of the National Association of State Outdoor Recreation Liaison Officers (NASORLO), member of the States Organization for Boating Access (SOBA) and National Association of Recreation Resource Planners (NARRP). Hogsett has a BA in Political Science from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas and a Masters of Public Administration from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
