Governor Abbott Reappoints Ward To State Soil And Water Conservation Board

Governor Greg Abbott today reappointed Joe Ward of Telephone to the State Soil and Water Conservation Board for a term set to expire on February 1, 2017. The Soil and Water Conservation Board administers Texas' soil and water conservation law and coordinates conservation and nonpoint source water pollution abatement programs throughout the state.

Joe L. Ward is a full time rancher and operates a Santa Gertrudis cow-calf operation. He has interests in an insurance consulting business and investments in land and family-owned restaurants. Ward is very active with his local community as a board member for the Fannin County Multi-purpose Complex, volunteer for the Telephone Volunteer Fire Department, director for the Bigbee Cemetery and member of the Telephone Baptist Church. He formerly served on the Bonham Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Ward served in the Army National Guard from 1969 – 1971 and served in the Air Force National Guard from 1971 – 1976. He graduated from Baylor University with a bachelor’s degree in Business.
