Governor Abbott Proclaims March 2016 to be Women’s Women Veterans Month

March 11, 2016 | Austin, Texas | Proclamation

America stands as a beacon of hope, opportunity and freedom to people around the world.  For over two centuries, in times of peace and in times of war, generations of Americans have honored their country by serving in the armed forces.

Throughout America’s proud military history, women have played a vital role, serving with honor and distinction.  Women have displayed the bravery, commitment and strength we have come to expect from our military, and I am proud to recognize and commend their selflessness and dedication.

At this time, I encourage all Texans to learn more about the contributions that women veterans have made and continue to make to our state and nation, thank them for their service and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  Their selflessness allows us to experience the freedom and liberty that we as Americans have fought so dearly to preserve.

Therefore, I, Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, do hereby proclaim March 2016 to be Women Veterans Month.

GREG ABBOTT
Governor
