Governor Abbott Appoints Bell To Texas Southern University Board Of Regents

Governor Greg Abbott today appointed Oliver Bell of Houston to the Texas Southern University Board of Regents for a term set to expire on February 1, 2017.

Oliver J. Bell is CEO of Oliver Bell, Inc., which is a consulting firm that emphasizes teaching and developing leadership skills and values direct relationships between employees and employers.  He has worked with union and union-free companies with operations in North America, Central America, South America, the Caribbean, and Europe. Bell is also founder of the Texas Labor & Employee Relations Consortium which consists of over 200 corporate members that meet to discuss corporate leadership issues in operations, labor relations, and human resources. Prior to founding his firm, he served as vice president of a large labor relations consulting organization and preceding that worked for Mobil Oil’s human resources group. Bell is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors, Society of Human Resource Management, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment Association, Association of the United States Army, US Army Historical Society and Board of Directors of the West Point Society of Greater Houston. He is also a past member of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boulé) and the Knights of Peter Claver. Upon receiving a gubernatorial appointment, Bell previously served as the Chairman of the Texas Board of Criminal Justice and Chairman of the Windham School District Board of Trustees. Bell is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and was an Airborne-Ranger qualified Army officer.
