Governor Abbott Proclaims March 2024 As Women Veterans Month

For nearly a quarter millennium, Americans have defended our nation and the ideals for which it stands, bravely facing existential threats to our way oflife. Time and again, our military members have placed themselves in harm’s wayforthe sake of our nation’s interests and values.


Whether at homeor abroad, in peacetime or in wartime, generations of Americans have answeredthe call of country by serving in the armed forces, and the women who
have borne the Stars and Stripes have doneso with the utmost distinction. They deserve the respect and admiration of a grateful nation.


Their courage, commitment, and competence represent the best of the Americanspirit, and I am proudto salute their selfless sacrifices. I encourage all Texans to do likewise. These women have defended America’s freedom and confronted extraordinary dangers beyond most civilians’ comprehension.


As we pay tribute to our women veterans, we must also rememberthose who gave the last full measure of devotion. Asheirs of the liberty purchased at so high a cost, we must continue to honor their memory and draw upontheir example.


At this time, I join all Texans and Americans in thanking our womenservice members past and present. They haveleft their mark in the annals of humanhistory, and their noble work has preserved the very qualities that make America a beacon of hopeandliberty.

Therefore, I, Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, do hereby proclaim March 2024 to be Women Veterans Month in Texas and urge all Texans to observe the occasion with, appropriate ceremonies and activities.
