Governor Abbott Names Chair And Appoints Johnson And Nejad To Board Of Professional Engineers And Land Surveyors

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Coleen Johnson and reappointed Sina Nejad, D.Eng. to the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors for terms set to expire on September 26, 2025. Additionally, the Governor named Nejad chair of the board. The board licenses qualified engineers and land surveyors and regulates the practice of professional engineering and professional land surveying.

Coleen M. Johnson of Leander has more than thirty years of experience in the surveying profession and is currently Geospatial Area Manager for Wantman Group, Inc. (WGI) in Austin. She is a past member of the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying, a member and past president of the Texas Society of Professional Surveyors, past president of the Geographic & Land Information Society, Inc., and a member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors. Johnson received an Associate of Applied Science in Land Surveying Technology from Austin Community College.

Sina Nejad, D.Eng. of Beaumont is the president of Sigma Engineers, Inc. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, and a founding member of the Architectural Engineering Institute. In addition, he is an advisory board member of St. Elizabeth Hospital, director and past president of the Symphony of Southeast Texas, and a trustee and past president of the Lamar University Foundation. Nejad received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Master of Engineering, and Doctor of Engineering from Lamar University.
