Governor Abbott Appoints Cassels As District Attorney Of 159th Judicial District
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Janet Reynolds Cassels as the District Attorney of the 159th Judicial District in Angelina County, for a term set to expire on December 31, 2020, or until her successor shall be duly elected and qualified.
Janet Reynolds Cassels of Lufkin is an attorney in private practice and previously served as an assistant district attorney for the Nacogdoches District Attorney’s Office. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Angelina County Bar Association. Additionally, she is a former Fundraiser Committee volunteer of CASA and a volunteer for Junior Achievement. Cassels received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law.
