Persons with Disabilities History and Awareness Month
Earlier this month Greg issued a proclamation declaring October “Persons with Disabilities History and Awareness Month” in Texas. This is such an important designation because it is a time for us to celebrate the many Texans with disabilities who have influenced our state’s history.
Family Day 2017
Simple, everyday activities are easy ways for parents to connect with their kids, things like eating dinner together, chatting during the drive to and from school, or tucking your kids into bed at night. Using these opportunities to bond with your kids is an important way to build a strong, healthy relationship – which is the focus of today, Family Day. This year I am once again joining forces with CASA Family Day to celebrate the impact that a strong family connection can have to helping keep kids drug free.
Texanthropy Spotlight: Rebuild Texas Fund
This is a trying time for our state as many of our fellow Texans continue to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. But many Texans have asked me what they can do to help, and I encourage those who can to contribute to the Rebuild Texas Fund.
Texanthropy Spotlight: Google
This week we are spotlighting Google - a company well-known for its charitable work in local communities. Google has been an active member of the Austin community for the last ten years and has made a major Texanthropic impact through partnerships with regional organizations, volunteer work, and community grants. The company’s philanthropic efforts in Texas are broad, ranging from computer science education, to working to bridge the digital divide, to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
