Family Day 2017

September 25, 2017

Simple, everyday activities are easy ways for parents to connect with their kids, things like eating dinner together, chatting during the drive to and from school, or tucking your kids into bed at night. Using these opportunities to bond with your kids is an important way to build a strong, healthy relationship – which is the focus of today, Family Day. This year I am once again joining forces with CASA Family Day to celebrate the impact that a strong family connection can have to helping keep kids drug free.

Founded in 2001, Family Day is a national program created by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse that works with organizations across the country to promote the simple, everyday things parents can do to connect with their kids.

As children age, the pressures to start engaging in risky behavior – things like smoking, drinking, and using drugs – increases. Keeping communication lines open and continuing to find ways to have quality time together as a family is an important factor in preventing dangerous activities like these.

Are you looking for great ways to connect with your kids? Set a regular date to get together for fun family activities such as game night or bowling, bond over a new shared hobby, or start an extracurricular activity together. Being involved in your children’s lives will help you bond and will help nourish their mind, body and soul.
