Governor Abbott Reappoints Baer To The Office Of Public Utility Counsel
Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Tonya Baer to the Office of Public Utility Counsel (OPUC) for a term to expire February 1, 2019. OPUC provides professional representation to residential and small commercial utility consumers to ensure affordable and reliable utility services in the state of Texas.
Tonya Baer of Austin has served as the public counsel for the Office of Public Utility Counsel since October 2013. She previously served as assistant director and special counsel for the Radioactive Materials Division and as a legislative liaison for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Financial Research Institute Advisory Board and the New Mexico State University Center for Public Utilities Advisory Council and an ex-officio board member of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and the Texas Reliability Entity. Baer received a Bachelor of Science and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota.
