Governor Abbott Meets With Security And Energy Officials; Gives Keynote Address In Mexico City

Governor Greg Abbott spent Monday meeting with several high-ranking Mexican Government officials and delivering a keynote address at an economic development luncheon:

"Opportunities to advance the Texas-Mexico relationship are plentiful, and by meeting with high ranking Mexico officials today, we have successfully identified areas that will deepen our partnership," said Governor Abbott. "By enhancing security on both sides of the border, diversifying our economies and investing wisely in shared energy and water resources, I'm confident the State of Texas and Mexico can create more opportunity and an even better future for all."

Meeting with Mexican Government Security Officials:

Governor Abbott began Monday by meeting with several high ranking Mexican Government Security officials from the Secretariat of National Defense, National Security Council, the Center for Research and National Security and the Federal Police to receive an update on Mexico’s security efforts and to discuss how Texas and Mexico can work collaboratively to achieve greater security on both sides of the border.

TexasOne Luncheon:

Governor Abbott delivered the keynote address at the TexasOne Supporter Luncheon in Mexico City today. The TexasOne Supporter Luncheon was an economic development gathering attended by more than 200 business executives and government officials from both Texas and Mexico. The Governor discussed the long history between the State of Texas and Mexico and how the two can come together to promote trade and investment opportunities across the border.

Meeting with Mexico’s Secretary of Energy:

Governor Abbott will end the day by meeting with Mexico Secretary of Energy Pedro Joaquín Coldwell and his cabinet to discuss Mexico's historic energy reform.
