Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Texas Board of Professional Surveying
Governor Greg Abbott appointed William “Davey” Edwards of Alvord, James “Jim” Cheatham of Aledo and Andrew Paxton of Lubbock, to the Texas Board of Professional Surveying for terms set to expire on January 31, 2021.
William “Davey” Edwards is a professional land surveyor and partner of Edwards Surveying, LLC in Decatur. He currently serves as Wise County Surveyor and is an adjunct instructor of Geology at Weatherford College. He is also former president of the Texas Society of Professional Surveying. Edwards received a bachelor of science in biomedical science from Texas A&M University, College Station and a Master of Science in Geospatial Surveying Engineering from Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in geoscience from The University of Texas at Dallas.
James “Jim” Cheatham is an attorney and shareholder practicing land title, commercial and civil litigation, among other areas, at Law, Snakard & Gambill, P.C. in Fort Worth. He previously received an honorable discharge from the United States Army after achieving the rank of Captain, serving as Commander of an attack helicopter troop with the 6th Cavalry Brigade, Fort Hood. He has authored and co-authored numerous continuing education articles focusing on the application of Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the duty of good faith and fair dealing in the title insurance industry. Cheatham received a bachelor of science in education from Truman State University, Kirksville, Missouri, and a Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law at Austin.
Andrew Paxton is the director of planning for the City of Lubbock. He formerly served as the Planning and Zoning Manager for the City of Lubbock, and currently serves on the Metropolitan Planning Organization Transportation Advisory Committee. Additionally, he is a member of the American Planning Association. Paxton received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Texas Tech University.
