Governor Abbott Accepts Distinguished Leader Award From Susan B. Anthony List
Governor Greg Abbott today received the Distinguished Leader Award at the Susan B. Anthony List’s 9th annual Campaign For Life Gala in Washington, D.C. Susan B. Anthony List is a non-profit organization that seeks to pass laws that protect unborn children and their mothers. The Distinguished Leader Award is the organization’s highest achievement award for working to protect life.
Excerpts from Governor Abbott’s Campaign For Life Gala speech:
“Our lives are not defined by how we are challenged, rather by how we respond to life’s challenges. Susan B. Anthony List exemplifies that principle by ensuring that America responds to the challenge of protecting life itself.”
(…)
“Protecting the unborn has been a priority in Texas. Texas law now defines life as beginning at conception, requires doctors to perform a sonogram before performing an abortion, and abortion in Texas is now effectively outlawed after 20 weeks.”
(…)
“I’m also seeking to expand adoption services and support the women who make this heroic choice.”
(…)
"I want to thank you for being my champion and for ensuring that America is defined by how we protect life.”
