Governor Abbott Reappoints Underwood Presiding Judge Of The Second Administrative Judicial Region
Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed Olen Underwood as presiding judge of the Second Administrative Judicial Region for a term set to expire four years from the date of qualification.
Olen Underwood of Willis has served as the presiding judge of the Second Administrative Judicial Region of Texas since May 1996. Previously, he served as judge of the 284th Judicial District Court for 24 years and is a former adjunct professor for Sam Houston State University Graduate Program. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association and a former member of the Texas Center for the Judiciary Board of Directors and the State Bar Judicial Section Board of Directors. Additionally, he is founder and director of You Are My Sonshine Ministries, Inc., founder of the Student Transition and Recovery Program (S.T.A.R.), past chairman of the Tyrone Evergreen Baptist Association, and a past trustee of the Texas Baptist Children's Home and Miracle Farm Home for Boys. Underwood received a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Houston Law Center.
