Governor Abbott Names Hollen To Texas Poet Laureate, State Musician And State Artists Committee

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Carol Hollen to the Texas Poet Laureate, State Musician and State Artists Committee for a term set to expire on October 1, 2019. The committee selects the state poet laureate, the state musician, the state artist representing 2-dimensional media and the state artist representing 3-dimensional media from candidates submitted by the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Carol Hollen of Mineola is a retired human resources consultant and business development executive, and carries the designation of Licensed Professional Counselor. She has volunteered with the Dallas Museum of Art and the Dallas Arboretum, and  is a member of the Texas Counseling Association, board member of the Mineola Memorial Library, treasurer of The Study Club of Mineola, and past president of the Dallas Human Resource Management Association.  Hollen received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Austin College and a Master of Arts degree in counseling from Amberton University.
