Governor Abbott Names Gamble To Texas Poet Laureate, State Musician And State Artists Committee

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Leah Gamble to the Texas Poet Laureate, State Musician and State Artists Committee for a term set to expire on October 1, 2021. The committee selects the state poet laureate, the state musician, the state artist representing 2-dimensional media and the state artist representing 3-dimensional media from candidates submitted by the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Leah Gamble of Plano is a retired county employee with 35 years of service. She is a former member of the Texas Probation Association, Texas Association of Court Administrators, and the Texas Pretrial Association. Additionally, she has served her community volunteering as a Girl Scout troop leader and as a track program manager with Plano Sports Authority. Gamble received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from The University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Science in Management and Administrative Science from The University of Texas at Dallas.
