Governor Abbott Appoints Three To The Finance Commission Of Texas
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Sharon McCormick and Laura Warren and reappointed Hector J. Cerna to the Finance Commission of Texas for terms set to expire on February 1, 2026. The commission is the governing body of the state banking, savings and loan, and consumer credit agencies.
Sharon McCormick of Frisco is a senior loan officer for PrimeLending, A PlainsCaptal Company and has a real estate broker license with the Texas Real Estate Commission and a Texas-SML Mortgage Loan Originator license. She is an associate board member of Barry Wood Missions and is a supporter and volunteer for Frisco Family Services and the Prestonwood Baptist Church. McCormick received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas Tech University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of North Texas.
Laura Nassri Warren of Palmhurst is founder and principal owner of The Warren Group Architects, Inc. in McAllen. She is a member of the American Institute of Architects and its LRGV Chapter and the Texas Society of Architects. She is the former chairman of the McAllen Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, McAllen Foreign Trade Zone, McAllen Intermodal, and the McAllen International Museum of Arts and Science and a member of the Texas A&M International Advisory Board. Additionally, she is the former president of the International Women’s Board of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and vice president of the Easter Seals of McAllen Executive Board. Warren received a Bachelor of Architecture from the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez.
Hector J. Cerna of Eagle Pass is president and CEO of IBC Bank in the Eagle Pass region. He is a board member of the Border Trade Alliance (BTA), former vice president of the Maverick County Development Corporation, and a member of the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Bankers Association. He is also involved in his community as chairman of the Diocese of Laredo Finance Council and board member of OMNIA Casa del Nino. He is a former member of the Texas Border Infrastructure Coalition and the Texas Young Bankers Association and former president of the Rotary International of Eagle Pass. He was a council member of Our Lady of Refuge School Council and a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. Cerna received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin.
