Governor Abbott Appoints Three To Commission On Jail Standards
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Patricia M. Anthony, Monica McBride, and reappointed Bill Stoudt to the Commission on Jail Standards for terms set to expire on January 31, 2025. The commission establishes standards for the care and treatment of county prisoners, and the construction, maintenance and operation of county jails.
Patricia M. Anthony of Garland is retired from the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. She is a life member of Women in Federal Law Enforcement and chair of the Taxpayer Communications Project Committee for the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel and the Southwest Regional Secretary for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She serves on the board of the Kiwanis Club of Garland and is a member of Bank of America’s Advisory Panel. Additionally, her volunteer experience include serving on the Charter Review Committee for the City of Garland, Citizen’s Oral Interview and Training Advisory Board for Garland’s Police Department, North Central Texas Council of Government’s Criminal Justice Policy Development Committee, and Leadership Garland’s Alumni Association. Anthony received an Associate degree in police science from El Centro College, Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from the University of Texas at Tyler, and a Master of Science in counseling and guidance from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Monica McBride of Alpine is the owner of McBride Guide Service, Faro Moro Eco Research, and Estancia Faro Moro cattle ranch in both Alpine and Paraguay. She is a member of the Texas Association of Realtors. Previously, she served as a member of the Pilot Club and Anchor Club and volunteered with Sunshine House’s Meals on Wheels. McBride received a dual Bachelor of Arts in communications and Spanish from Sul Ross State University.
Bill Stoudt of Longview is the Gregg County Judge and Chairman of the Jail Standards Commission. He is founder and current trustee of the Centurion Club a current board member and past president of the East Texas Council of Governments, sits on the board of directors of the Longview Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of Rotary International, Downtown Longview Rotary Club and a community advisor to the Junior League of Longview. Previously, he the founded the Boys & Girls Club of East Texas, and has served as the chairman and former director of the Longview Economic Development Corporation, Gregg County Appraisal District, City of Longview Higher Education Council, Cherokee Water Company, Regions Bank, and the University of Texas – Longview Campus. Stoudt received a Bachelor of Business Administration in business and finance from Georgia State University.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.
