Governor Abbott Appoints Sudderth As Chief Justice Of Second Court Of Appeals

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Bonnie Sudderth as Chief Justice of the Second Court of Appeals for a term set to expire December 31, 2018, or until her successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

Bonnie Sudderth of Fort Worth has served on the Second Court of Appeals since January 2015, and previously served as judge of the 352nd Judicial District Court for nearly 20 years. She is a member and past president of the American Judges Association and the Eldon B. Mahon Inn of Court and a charter member of the Tarrant County Bar Foundation. She is a life member of the Texas Bar Foundation and a member of the Federalist Society and the Texas Center for Legal Ethics. Additionally, she is a founding board member of Tarrant County Volunteer Attorney Services, member of the Rotary Club of Fort Worth and has served as a state moot court competition judge for Texas Young Lawyers Association. Sudderth received a Bachelor of Science in public administration from the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctor from The University of Texas Law School.
