Governor Abbott Appoints Seven To Aerospace And Aviation Advisory Committee

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Dan Winston to the Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee for a term set to expire on September 1, 2019. Additionally, the Governor has appointed Aimee Burnett and Lauren Dreyer, and reappointed Sharon Denny, J. Ross Lacy, Bob Mitchell, and Terry Stevens for terms set to expire on September 1, 2021. The committee assists in the state’s economic development efforts to recruit and retain aerospace and aviation jobs and investments in Texas.

Dan Winston of McKinney is vice president of finance for Boeing Global Services, headquartered in Plano.  Dan has served in various positions with The Boeing Company for more than 30 years. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, former member of the Southern Illinois University Accounting Advisory Board, and a former advisor of Junior Achievement of St. Louis. Winston received a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Benedictine College and a Master of Business Administration from Lindenwood University.

Aimee Burnett of Southlake is vice president of enterprise integration for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company, where she leads the vision, strategy and processes to achieve business transformation initiatives. She previously held the role of director, F-35 International Business Development for the Asia/Pacific region, and has served in various positions with the company for over 17 years. She is a member of Women in Aerospace, a mentor for Million Women Mentors, sustainer of The Junior League of Fort Worth, and a volunteer for Make A Wish of North Texas. Burnett received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and a Master of Science in systems engineering from Southern Methodist University.

Lauren Dreyer of Eddy is director of human resources and business operations for Space Exploration Technologies Corp (SpaceX), and has served in various positions with SpaceX for over 10 years. She is a member of the Baylor University School of Engineering and Computer Science Board of Advocates, the Waco Business League and the Waco Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Additionally, she is a member of the Care4Texans Board of Directors and previously served on the Baylor University Mechanical Engineering Advisory Board, Greater Waco Advanced Manufacturing Academy Board of Advisors, Waco Aviation Advisory Board. Dreyer received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Baylor University and a Master of Business Administration from Texas A&M University.

Sharon Denny of McKinney is vice president of strategy for Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, and has served in various positions with the company for over 20 years. She serves on the McKinney Economic Development Corporation Board and formerly served on the advisory board of Women in International Security, a nonprofit organization that promotes the influence of women in foreign and defense affairs. Denny received a Bachelor of Science in journalism from the University of Maryland and a Master of Science in national resource management strategy from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.

J.Ross Lacy of Midland is the president of Lacy Oil Corporation, and is a councilman for the City of Midland. He is president of the Midland Spaceport Development Corporation and a member of Midland Young Professionals in Energy, Permian Basin Petroleum Association, Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association, and the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society. Additionally, he is a member of The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) Development Board, UTPB College of Business Advisory Board, John Ben Shepperd Public Leadership Institute Advisory Board and a centurion member of The University of Texas System Chancellor’s Council. Lacy received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from UTPB.

Bob Mitchell of Pearland is president of the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, and has served in various positions with the partnership for over 17 years. He also serves on numerous boards including the Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, University of Texas Medical Branch Health System Advisory Board, Texas A&M University at Galveston Board of Visitors. Additionally, he serves on the boards of the Manned Spaceflight Education Foundation, Inc., HCA Gulf Coast Regional Advisory Board, Rotary National Award for Space Achievement Board of Advisors, and Gulf Coast Limestone, Inc.

Terry Stevens of Waco is a partner of First Title Company of Waco, LLC, and president and CEO of M&I Industries, Inc. He currently serves as chair of the McLennan County Spaceport Development Corp and is a former director of Cool City Avionics of Mineral Wells. He is a past chairman of the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce and currently serves as a director on the Chamber’s Community Foundation. Additionally, he serves on the chamber’s Economic Development Retention & Expansion Committee and is a former board member and chairman of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco. Stevens is a former mayor and city council member for the City of Woodway.
