Governor Abbott Appoints McClendon To Governor’s University Research Initiative Advisory Board

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Christy McClendon to the Governor's University Research Initiative Advisory Board for a term at the pleasure of the Governor. The board was established to assist the Office of the Governor with the review and evaluation of applications for funding of grant proposals, and makes recommendations for approval or disapproval of those applications.

Christy McClendon of Lubbock is executive vice president and managing partner for GRACO Real Estate Development, Inc. She is a member of the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health National Advisory Board, and member and finance chairman for the Covenant Health System Board of Directors. She is member and former chairman of the Lubbock Independent School District Talkington School for Young Women Leaders Advisory Council, member and treasurer of the Lubbock Young Women’s Leader Foundation, member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, and a former member of the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts Board of Directors. McClendon received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Tech University.
