Governor Abbott Appoints Guiney Judge Of The 232nd Judicial District Court

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Kristin Guiney as judge of the 232nd Judicial District Court in Harris County for a term set to expire December 31, 2018, or until her successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

Kristin Guiney of Houston is an attorney in private practice at McClees & Guiney. She previously served as judge of the 179th Judicial District Court in Harris County and as an assistant district attorney in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. She is board certified in Criminal Law by the Texas State Board of Legal Specialization and is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association and the Texas Bar College. She is a former member of the Texas Association of County and District Attorneys, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association. Additionally, she is a senior fellow of the American Leadership Forum – Gulf Coast and a volunteer for St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Prison Entrepreneurship Program and the Girl Scouts. Guiney received a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center.
