Governor Abbott Appoints Four To Lavaca-Navidad River Authority Board of Directors
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Lee Kucera and Callaway Aimone to the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority for terms set to expire on May 1, 2023 and May 1, 2025, respectively. Additionally, the Governor reappointed Charles “Charlie” Taylor and Leonard Steffek for terms set to expire on May 1, 2025. The board oversees the storage, preservation and distribution of stream and river water in Jackson County.
Lee Kucera of Edna is the vice president for lending at New First National Bank. He is a member of the Texas Farm Bureau, Texas Independent Cattleman’s Association, and the Jackson County Go Texan Committee and secretary/treasurer of Jackson County Farm Bureau. Additionally, he is president of Jackson County Rotary Club, director of Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Kucera received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Economics from Texas A&M University.
Callaway Aimone of Edna is an attorney board certified in oil and gas law at Aimone Law. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and their oil and gas section and real estate, probate & trusts section. Additionally, he is a member and firefighter for Vanderbilt Volunteer Fire Department and recently served as president of the Edna Rotary Club, and co-chaired Jackson County’s Inaugural National Night Out. Aimone received a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Houston Law Center.
Charles “Charlie” Taylor of Palacios is retired and formerly the vice president of sales for Culp Aluminum Alloys. He is a former member of the Society of Die Cast Engineers and the American Foundry Society. Additionally, he is a commissioner of Jackson County Emergency Service District #2, member of the Bay Gun Club in Port Lavaca, chair of the finance committee for First United Methodist Church, Port Lavaca, and a director and treasurer of Cape Carancahua Property Owners Association. Taylor served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He received a Bachelor of Science in agriculture economics from Texas A&M University.
Leonard Steffek of Edna is a measurement supervisor at Energy Transfer in San Antonio. He is a former volunteer fire fighter for the City of Stafford Fire Department. Steffek served in the United States Army and was honorable discharged. He received an associate degree from Wharton Junior College.
