Governor Abbott Appoints Evans To Fifth Court of Appeals

Governor Greg Abbott has appointed David W. Evans to the Fifth Court of Appeals for a term set to expire on December 31, 2020, or until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

David W. Evans of Cedar Hill is currently judge of the 95th Judicial District Court in Dallas, and previously served as a Justice on the Fifth Court of Appeals and as judge of the 193rd Judicial District Court. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association, life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Dallas Bar Foundation. Additionally, he is a board member and trail steward of Audubon-Dallas. He recently made a life-saving gift of one of his kidneys to retired Chief Justice Carolyn Wright. Evans received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
