First Lady Cecilia Abbott Delivers Remarks At OneStar Foundation’s Texas Nonprofit Summit In San Antonio
Texas First Lady Cecilia Abbott today delivered remarks at the OneStar Foundation's Texas Nonprofit Summit in San Antonio. The First Lady discussed the importance of volunteerism and philanthropy, and highlighted the success of her Texanthropy initiative.
"My top priority is encouraging Texans to give back through volunteerism and service, and I am grateful that the OneStar Foundation and the volunteers here today are committed to that same goal," the First Lady said. "There is no force more powerful than Texans helping Texans. Through the generosity and service of each and every one of you, we will continue to create a brighter future for our great state.
In 2016, the First Lady launched "Texanthropy," an initiative that promotes volunteerism and service to others. The initiative also highlights entities and individuals all across Texas who are working to make our state a better place through volunteerism. Read more about Texanthropy.
The Texas Nonprofit Summit is an annual conference hosted by OneStar Foundation. The event was first launched in 1977 and was originally known as the Governor’s Volunteer Leadership Conference, which provided training for volunteer leaders across the state of Texas. It has since evolved into the premier nonprofit conference in the state and attracts leaders from across sectors to explore how to better strengthen Texas communities.
