Texanthropy Spotlight: The Children’s Tumor Foundation
Greg and I attended the Children’s Tumor Foundation Neurofibromatosis Conference last Saturday, where we were able to learn about the wonderful organization that is working to research and find treatments for Neurofibromatosis and other similar diseases.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder that affects 1 in 3,000 people, causing tumor growth throughout the body that can result in blindness, bone deformities, cancer, deafness, disfigurement, learning disabilities and disabling pain. The Children’s Tumor Foundation is the leading nonprofit working to improve the health and well-being of more than 100,000 Americans currently suffering from NF. As Greg acknowledged in his remarks at the conference, all of the work the Children’s Tumor Foundation does would not be possible without the “passionate volunteers, strong families, generous donors and dedicated scientists” working to ultimately defeat NF and diseases like it.
If this is a cause you feel passionate about, there are many ways Texans can get involved in the Children’s Tumor Foundation and the fight against NF. A few examples include participating in an NF walk in your community, volunteering on a race weekend, or even working with NF Endurance to plan and execute events. If you would like to learn more about the many great things the Children’s Tumor Foundation is doing and ways that you can help, visit their website: http://www.ctf.org/.
