The Governor’s Commission for Women Joins the Network of Nurture
During Foster Care Month, I was delighted to host the wonderful ladies of the Governor's Commission for Women at the Governor's Mansion. Together, we heard from Partnerships for Children about their Heart Gallery of Central Texas program, which displays in local communities professional portraits of children in the foster care system who are looking for their forever family; and we viewed several portraits that were on display at the Governor's Mansion.
Partnerships for Children works in coordination with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to promote foster and adoption opportunities and to encourage communities to support foster and adoptive children and families. This is the Network of Nurture in action -- individuals, families, friends, local leaders, nonprofit organizations, businesses, faith community members, and more all coming together to open their hands, their hearts, and their homes to children and families in need of permanence.
I'm thrilled to welcome the Governor's Commission for Women into the Network of Nurture, and I look forward to partnering with the commissioners as we find new ways to collaborate in support of children and families all across Texas.
