Let’s Support One Another
During this challenging time, Texans are proving that they never hesitate when there’s an opportunity to help a neighbor in need. Many of us are asking, “What can I do? How can I help?”
Though we may feel isolated, we are a still a community that looks out for one another; If you must go out to buy groceries, consider picking up some extra canned goods to leave on an elderly neighbor’s doorstep or some extra snacks for the family of four who lives next door.
Another option is to donate to Silver Star and Rainbow Rooms. These emergency resource rooms provide essential items for children, families and elderly adults involved with the Department of Family and Protective Services. Caseworkers turn to these rooms to fill the basic needs of those they serve and in some parts of the state these essentials are rapidly depleting. If you are able to donate a pre-paid gift card or supplies by drop-off or delivery service, please visit: www.dfps.state.tx.us/About_DFPS/Coronavirus/
This is a time of unprecedented changes and your family is likely experiencing some anxiety. If so, there are resources available to help families manage stress and find the services they need: http://www.helpandhope.org/
Now more than ever, it’s important that we support one another. Though we may not be able to gather face-to-face, we’re all in this together.
