At Home

February 13, 2015

Greg and I are so honored to serve the people of Texas, and we are so privileged to be the 40th family to live in the beautiful Texas Governor’s Mansion. While there are still boxes to be unpacked, it is so exciting to have the opportunity to live here. The Texas Governor’s Mansion has served as the official residence of Texas governors and their families since 1856. Though it is now our home, the mansion does not belong to us - we are its stewards, preserving its past and its future. I hope you have the opportunity one day to see the incredible treasures housed here from our state’s storied history, and the painstaking restoration work that brought this national landmark back to its full majesty.

I’m especially glad that our daughter, Audrey, is sharing in this privilege. I know she will cherish the memories created here…the first of which is ringing in her 18th birthday! I can’t believe how fast time flies! We’ve already had some fun celebrating Audrey’s birthday, starting with a surprise on the front lawn. We’ve got more exciting things planned to celebrate Audrey…but first, I need to get back to unpacking a few more boxes!
