One of the most preventable tragedies during the summer months is death caused by leaving children and pets unattended in vehicles. Today is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day
Good mental health is essential to our well-being, especially for the youngest among us whose healthy development is vital to a successful future. Sadly, many children in Texas suffer from mental health problems. That is why today has been declared Children's Mental Health Awareness Day in Texas, and this year there is a particular focus on children, youth, and young adults who have experienced trauma.

May is Military Appreciation Month, which makes it the perfect time to tell you about one of the 2017 Governor’s Volunteer Award winners – USAA, which was given the Corporate Community Impact Award. This award recognizes a private sector entity for having community service as a core value and business strategy, and for implementing employee volunteer programs that will have a long-term impact in their community.
