The Office of the Governor is looking for a Writer (Information Specialist III) to work in the Communications Division.

The salary is $5,416.67 - $5,833.34 a month ($65,000.04 - $70,000.08 a year).

What You’ll Do
This is a job that performs highly complex (senior-level) informational and communications work. Work involves all forms of communications writing to support the various content needs of the Communications Division, including but not limited to: technical communications support under the supervision of the Speechwriter, including crafting flawless, clear, and well-written materials and speeches to increase the Governor’s voice, presence, and visibility statewide; and coordinating the research, writing, editing, and production of content and materials for digital projects for the agency in coordination with the Digital Media Manager, to include the development, execution, and delivery of digital content across the OOG’s website and social media channels. Uses a wide range of reference and research tools and consults with subject matter experts where necessary. Effectively uses the Internet and other information technology resources to accomplish the assigned duties. Corrects basic spelling, typographical and grammatical errors (proofreading) and checks accuracy of facts presented and ensures departmental style and formatting consistency. May require extensive rewriting of documents. Successfully performs several functions in tandem with working within tight deadlines in a highly demanding environment.
- Effectively supports OOG media efforts through writing, proofreading, and editing speeches, digital content, op-eds, publications, and briefs for public and media release.
- Coordinates and evaluates the preparation and distribution of content for all social media sites within the agency.
- Drafts, edits, and posts content on OOG’s website and social media accounts.
- Ensures that all correspondence accurately reflects the administration’s position on issues and is well-written, grammatically correct, and accessible information. Performs research as necessary to write and respond to complex technical issues.
- Verifies that project deliverables consistently comply with departmental expectations, agency style, and communication guidelines. Verifies and thoroughly researches source information as necessary to ensure the accuracy of all correspondence prior to release.
- Establishes and maintains recordkeeping and work papers of research sources, editorial recommendations, and errors.
- Ensures smooth operation for all digital tools and applications (e.g. website, content archives, and social media).
- May develop or assist with developing social media policies and procedures.
How You’ll Qualify
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in digital technologies, public relations, journalism, communications, advertising, or a relevant field; and
- Two (2) years of experience in journalism, public relations, public information, communications, media relations, or relevant work.
Note: Experience and education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.
