ICYMI: Governor Abbott Discusses His Call For Convention Of States On The Mark Levin Show And The Ke

January 12, 2016 | Austin, Texas | Press Release

Governor Greg Abbott appeared on the “Mark Levin Show” and “The Kelly File” on the Fox News Channel Monday evening to discuss the Texas Plan to restore the Rule of Law and return the Constitution to its intended purpose. On Friday, Governor Abbott offered nine constitutional amendments to rein in the federal government and restore the balance of power between the States and the United States. The Governor proposes achieving the constitutional amendments through a Convention of States.

“We have to institute changes from the bottom up that returns the Constitution back to its original intent,” said Governor Abbott in his interview with Mark Levin. “There is a growing agreement across the country to make alterations in our government not because our Constitution as it was written is flawed, but because our Constitution as it has been applied is flawed.”

Appearing on “The Kelly File,” Governor Abbott pointed out the ways the federal government has usurped power and ignored the Constitution: “It was clear from what the Founders wrote they did not want to empower five unelected judges on the United States Supreme Court to singlehandedly amend the Constitution in an unaccountable way. But it’s not just the Court, Congress has not lived up to their Constitutional responsibilities either. Instead of Congress writing the laws under Article I as the Founders intended, unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats at government agencies are the ones doing so.”
