Governor Abbott Visits Rockport With George Strait To Meet With Texans Impacted By Hurricane Harvey

Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott today joined George Strait and Acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke to meet with Texans affected by Hurricane Harvey in Rockport, TX. During the visit they spoke with local Texans in the community on their needs as they continue the rebuilding process. The Governor also reaffirmed his commitment to doing everything possible to get Rockport and its surrounding areas all necessary resources to assist in the recovery efforts.

“As I have traveled across Texas in the aftermath of this storm I have been amazed by the resiliency of Texas communities as they come together to rebuild,” said Governor Abbott. “It has been so inspiring to see neighbors helping neighbors through this recovery process, and I thank George Strait for all his amazing work in helping our fellow Texans. I want to assure the people of Rockport, and all those in the affected areas that we will be with them every step of the way throughout this process.”

The Governor also thanked Acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke for the federal government's quick action in helping Texas before, during and after the Hurricane. Governor Abbott also expressed his continued commitment to continuing to work closely with federal and local officials.
