Governor Abbott Statement On U.S. House Of Representatives Vote To Approve Harvey Relief Down Payment
Governor Greg Abbott today released the following statement after the United States House of Representatives voted to allocate $7.85 billion as an initial down payment to Texas in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
“Today’s bipartisan vote by the U.S. House of Representatives is an encouraging sign that Congress intends to step up and ensure Texans receive the financial aid they need to rebuild in the aftermath of this devastating storm,” said Governor Abbott. “I am hopeful that the U.S. Senate will act quickly to pass this measure, which will serve as a down payment for future relief to help Texas recover. I want to extend my gratitude to members of both parties who voted in favor of this important piece of legislation.”
