Governor Abbott Joins Faith Leaders From Across The Country For The Annual Meeting Of The Southern Baptist Convention
Governor Greg Abbott today joined faith leaders from across the country for the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) being held this year in Dallas, Texas. The meeting focuses on church organization, issues facing the church, and ministry efforts. This year, Governor Abbott addressed attendees and thanked them for their commitment to faith, family and devotion to God.
“Our country was founded on religious liberty, but America is at a time of crisis as some try to silence the faithful and remove God from the public square,” said Governor Abbott. “Texas has faced a great deal of adversity, but we’ve relied on our faith to overcome those challenges, which has brought us closer to God. In the midst of challenges against people of faith, Texans have adopted the attitude, ‘pray as if everything depends on God, but work as if everything depends on Texas.’”
The Southern Baptist Convention is the largest Protestant denomination in the United States with more than 47,000 churches and a membership of over 15 million. The SBC also maintains a number of missionary programs and operates six seminaries with a total enrollment of more than 21,000.
