Governor Abbott Holds Call With State Legislature, Texas Congressional Delegation On COVID-19 Efforts
Governor Greg Abbott today held a conference call with members of the Texas Legislature and the Texas Congressional Delegation to discuss the state's ongoing efforts to combat COVID-19. The Governor provided an update on Texas' expanding testing capabilities and thanked state and federal leaders for their continued collaborative efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 across the state.
The Governor was joined on the call by Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Commissioner John Hellerstedt, MD, Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) Chief Nim Kidd, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and House Speaker Dennis Bonnen.
"The challenge we face requires a coordinated effort from leaders at all levels of government, and I thank Texas’ state legislators and congressional members for their partnership as we work together to deploy comprehensive strategies to protect public health," said Governor Abbott. "Whether it is in our nation’s capital or in communities throughout the state, Texans can be confident that their elected officials are taking action to secure the resources our state needs to limit the spread of COVID-19 and keep our communities safe."
