Governor Abbott Delivers Remarks At Grand Opening Of New Sterling Manufacturing Facility In Lufkin
Governor Greg Abbott today delivered remarks at the grand opening of Sterling's TerraLam® Cross-Laminated Timber mat manufacturing facility in Lufkin. Governor Abbott thanked Sterling for investing in the East Texas community, and reaffirmed his commitment to growing the manufacturing industry and bringing more jobs to rural communities throughout the Lone Star State.
"I am proud to welcome Sterling to the city of Lufkin, and I am grateful for their commitment to this community," said Governor Abbott. "Sterling's investment in Lufkin means more jobs and economic growth for this entire region. Working together, we will bring more prosperity to East Texas and keep our state the economic engine of America."
Sterling is a vertically integrated manufacturer that delivers high-performance ground protection mats and more than 300 industrial products worldwide. The new facility in Lufkin, the largest of its kind in the southern United States, will create 150 new jobs and over $30 million in capital investment. A Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant of $825,000 was extended to Sterling in September 2018.
