Governor Greg Abbott, Commissioner John Sharp of the Governor’s Commission to Rebuild Texas, and heads of state agencies today met with local officials in Houston and Victoria on the rebuilding process in communities hardest hit by Hurricane Harvey. During their meetings, Governor Abbott and Commissioner Sharp informed local leaders of the Commission's efforts to restore roads, bridges, schools and government buildings in the aftermath of the storm.
"These communities have been devastated by this storm, and the road to recovery is a long one," said Governor Abbott. "I want to assure Texans in these impacted areas, my commission and Commissioner Sharp are entirely focused on, and dedicated to, working with these cities to ensure a full recovery. One thing that was not taken from us during the storm is the resiliency of the Texas spirit, and that is what will lead us to rebuild stronger and more united than before."
Today is the second day of visits on a five-city trip that Governor Abbott, Commissioner Sharp, and leaders from state agencies will make to visit communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Tomorrow, they will meet with local officials in Beaumont, Texas.
