Governor Abbott Champions Texas’ Critical Aerospace, Defense Industry In Dallas
Governor Greg Abbott today championed Texas’ world-renowned aerospace and defense industry and the vital role Texans have to support American national security interests during a fireside chat at the North Texas Commission's 52nd Annual Members' Luncheon in Dallas.
“With one of the largest aerospace and civil defense labor forces and as the top state for semiconductor manufacturing in the country, Texas is further ensuring our nation’s security,” said Governor Abbott. “Through historic investments—like the ones passed and signed into law during the 88th Legislative Sessions—we continue to cultivate our state's innovative thinkers, a highly skilled workforce, and a business climate to support our growing state and our nation. Texas has the innovation, infrastructure, and talent to lead America's resurgence in the critical technologies of tomorrow.
Speaking to a crowd of over 600 North Texas Commission members, state and local officials, and business leaders, Governor Abbott outlined Texas’ fundamental role in American national security and innovation, pointing to the state’s robust aerospace, aviation, and defense industry and advanced semiconductor manufacturing sector. The Governor also highlighted the state’s geographic location as the ideal place to provide timely access to domestic and global markets by air, land, and sea. Additionally, Governor Abbott discussed achievements of the 88th Legislature that support growth in these critical industries, including funding for infrastructure projects that will improve roadway and broadband connectivity across the state and significant investments leveraging Texas' semiconductor manufacturing and research.
The Governor was joined by former U.S. Secretary of the Army Pete Geren.
