Governor Abbott Attends The Grand Opening Of Toyota’s New North America Headquarters In Plano

Governor Greg Abbott today attended the grand opening ceremony for Toyota’s new North American headquarters in Plano, Texas. Toyota Motor North America previously announced it would be relocating its headquarters from Torrance, California, to the Lone Star State in 2014. Toyota will also be consolidating its widely-spread workforce from three other states to its new campus at Legacy West.

“The greatest resource we have here in the Lone Star State is our highly-skilled workforce that draws global businesses like Toyota to Texas every day,” said Governor Abbott.

The 4,000 jobs added and Toyota’s impressive new facility are proof of the remarkable momentum of Texas’ continuing economic expansion. I am proud that Toyota is expanding here, and I thank them for their commitment to being an important part of our Texas community.

Toyota broke ground on the $350 million, 2 million-square-foot facility in 2015. The campus is expected to house approximately 4,000 employees, including staff for Toyota's data science hub for their global operations called "Toyota Connected.”
